The first race of 2015
A 5K race through the grounds of the Stover School, featuring the infamous ‘Torture Field’.
The first race of 2015 is going to be a busy social event. I am running alongside Emmalisa3, wearing the colours of the MS Society. Emma has a blog in which documents her daily-ish life with MS, and what it’s like living with 3 small boys and me.
As a former Stover Girl, Emma was only to keen to describe the joys of a certain section of the course known in her days as ‘Torture Field’, due to the charming geographical feature of it being a continual incline which was cleverly put at the end of the cross country track.
The running of the cross country course took place at 5am, the day after any infringements in house discipline.
Today the school has no requirement to force boarding pupils to run the course at 5am because Emma is no longer a pupil, although she insists it is due to ‘human rights nonsense’ and not because her particular year were ‘colourful and vibrant’ which is a polite way of saying that the place oft times resembled St Trinians.
I think it’s going to be a bit of an old girls re-union, if the rest of her year are as ‘colourful and vibrant’ as Emma still is, then it’s going to be an interesting day.
Training miles – zero*
waist: 36 inches
weight: 15 stone approx.
*I have had every intention of going out and doing training runs, but it’s been dark, wet, miserable and I have had mince pies to eat and a nice warm log fire to sit by.
